ASPIRA’s Leadership & College Access Programs (LCAP) partnered up with Morgan Stanley to help our LCAP students navigate the college essay writing process. The mentoring workshop helped students brainstorm and select essay topic(s), generate a narrative with details, and helped explore organizational choices. By the end of the workshop, Morgan Stanley volunteers gave developmental feedback and students had a first draft of their essay for college applications.
On March 3rd, LCAP students also attended a career mentoring panel and virtual tour of the Barclays Center hosted by BSE Global’s Latinx Employee Resource Group. Following the panel, the students attended The Brooklyn Nets Noche Latina United Game, an annual event that celebrates and shines a spotlight on Latin culture. A career panel is a great way for our students to hear from diverse business people about their jobs, career paths, education, and skills required to be successful.
